Friday and Saturday evenings are traditionally reserved as days off for 'The Political Spotlight' team. However, on this evening—Friday, February 27th, 2026—Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey felt compelled to break that routine to address deeply troubling and tragic news that demands public attention!

It is with great sadness that Bilbrey informs the audience of the passing of Nicholas Gulley II, a 35-year-old Henry County, Indiana, resident. Gulley passed away earlier today at approximately 5:57 p.m. on Friday, February 27th, 2026, following a prolonged and critical medical emergency that began after he was involved in a physical altercation while in the custody of the Henry County Jail.

Gulley was originally arrested and booked into the Henry County Jail on Friday, January 9th, 2026, for Criminal Trespass, a Class B Misdemeanor. On the same day, he was involved in a physical altercation with four or five Henry County corrections officers. His injuries worsened in the days that followed.

As Gulley's medical condition deteriorated, emergency medical services were called nine days later, on Sunday, February 18, 2026, and he was transported to the Henry County Hospital.

Due to the severity of his condition, he was airlifted via Lifeline helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. From Sunday, January 18th, 2026, until his passing today, Gulley remained in the intensive care unit on life support.

This tragic outcome represents yet another serious incident raising questions about the leadership, policies, and culture within the Henry County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff John M. Sproles. These events add to a growing list of concerns that demand transparency, answers, and accountability.

In addition to sharing the heartbreaking news in this 612th episode, Bilbrey shares exclusive surveillance footage obtained from inside the Henry County Jail. This footage documents key moments involving Gulley during his incarceration at the Henry County Jail. These videos provide critical insight into the circumstances surrounding his detention and subsequent medical emergency.
