Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour and Delaware County Commissioner Stephen Brand addressed nearly 500 attendees this morning, highlighting their respective "achievements for 2025" and "goals for 2026." Bilbrey reviews the event and shares his thoughts here! #ThePoliticalSpotlight

  • #615 | Follow Up: More HCSD Jail Videos (Gulley Incident)! | The Political Spotlight

    March 4th, 2026  |  1 hr 53 mins
bad leadership, broken ribs, criminal trespass, ems, excessive force, fox 59, gross negligence, gulley's girlfriend, gulley's mom, henry county, hospital, icu, indiana, injury and illness, jail, jail commander, lawsuit, medical cell, more video, nick gulley, passed away, record request, sheriff john m. sproles, stacey guffey, substance abuse, use of force, video, visitation, wrongful death

Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey once again offers viewers exclusive footage from inside the Henry County, Indiana Jail, taken while Nicholas Gulley II was held on the preliminary charge of criminal trespass. This footage is hard to watch, but it MUST be seen! Transparency and accountability are crucial, and this video gives a rare look inside the Henry County Jail during a time when those in charge acted very questionably. The ongoing question has been, is, and will continue to be: "Did the use of force against Gulley reach a level of brutality, and is the Henry County Sheriff's Department guilty of gross negligence in the care NOT PROVIDED TO Gulley during the nine days he was confined?" #ThePoliticalSpotlight

  • #614 | Muncie City Council Meeting (03.02.26) Recap! | The Political Spotlight

    March 3rd, 2026  |  2 hrs 42 mins
accountability, chief nate sloan, communication, council president jeff green, council rules, drones, first amendment, interlocal agreement, march 2026, mayor dan ridenour, muncie city council, muncie city police department, muncie indiana, ordinance 6-26, resolution 4-26, transparency, win for the citizens

Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey offers his commentary and analysis of the Muncie City Council meeting on Monday, March 2, 2026. The meeting was once again long; however, the tone was markedly different! Honestly, this meeting was a WIN for transparency, accountability, and communication, and for the citizens of Muncie! This meeting should be a teaching moment for Muncie's elected and appointed officials, as well as its citizens! The takeaway is: The Council WILL DO what is right IF the citizenry stands up and forces them to! For the citizens, this shows, yet again, that all it takes is a bit of action. For Muncie's officials, specifically the city council, it proves that the people WILL speak! Now, we just need to get to a point where the council does the right thing without needing the citizenry to hijack several meetings in a row! #ThePoliticalSpotlight

  • #613 | Gulley/Henry Co + Muncie City Council's 03.02.26 Mtg + Del Co GOP! | The Political Spotlight

From the heartbreaking news of Nicholas Gulley II's passing this past Friday to the insurance issue at hand, Bilbrey then discusses the current 2026 election season, including the race to determine the next sheriff of Henry County. Next, Bilbrey looks ahead to the upcoming Muncie City Council meeting, scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, March 2, 2026, at 7 p.m. It will likely be another interesting meeting and definitely one to watch. Bilbrey also covers a few other updates in and around the City of Muncie. Lastly, Bilbrey examines a possible shake-up within the Delaware County Republican Party! #ThePoliticalSpotlight

On Friday, February 27, 2026, The Political Spotlight breaks from its regularly scheduled days off to report on the tragic death of 35-year-old Nicholas Gulley II, a Henry County, Indiana, resident. Gulley was arrested and booked into the Henry County Jail on January 9, 2026, for misdemeanor criminal trespass. Several hours after being booked, a physical altercation occurred between Gulley and corrections officers. Over the next nine days, Gulley's medical condition deteriorated. He was transported to Henry County Hospital via EMS on Sunday, January 18, 2026, and later airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, where he remained in the intensive care unit on life support until his passing at approximately 5:57 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026. Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey provides details on this tragic case and presents exclusive jail surveillance footage documenting key events from January 9 through January 18, 2026. Bilbrey also discusses broader concerns about leadership, accountability, and transparency within the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. 'The Political Spotlight' remains committed to investigating this matter and seeking answers for Gulley’s family and the community. #ThePoliticalSpotlight

In this 611th episode of 'The Political Spotlight,' Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey covers a major story from Henry County, Indiana, and then, moving northward, he reports on a major announcement made earlier in the day in his home city of Muncie, Indiana. First up, Bilbrey tackles the Henry County Government's insurance problem! To be clear, the problem is current Sheriff John M. Sproles and the culture he has created among his employees. We then move on to the City of Muncie and the weekly Board of Works meeting, where Mayor Dan Ridenour announced that BOW member Linda Gregory would be stepping away from "public service" after 12 years as a Muncie City Councilor and six years on the Board of Works! The Mayor did not reveal who her replacement would be, but Bilbrey found out it was none other than local attorney Allen Wiseley, a young lapdog Republican, who, like Democrat Gregory and the other two BOW members, will be nothing more than a rubber stamp for Mayor Ridenour. #ThePoliticalSpotlight

  • #610 | Monday-Funday (Free-for-All Chat)! | The Political Spotlight The Political Spotlight

Bilbrey has just about had all the studio moving he can handle... not to mention it's happening right in the middle of the kickoff of the 2026 Election Season, as well as during what is shaping up to be a busier-than-usual "end-of-winter period," politically speaking! It's all just a bit too much! And that's why this 610th episode is a "free association" show. A Monday-Funday (Free-for-All Chat)! But don't worry, Bilbrey will cover a few political and governmental odds and ends! #ThePoliticalSpotlight

  • #609 | He's Just a Wannabe Podcaster - No One Takes Him Seriously! | The Political Spotlight

    February 19th, 2026  |  1 hr 54 mins

Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey reviews the agenda and action items for the upcoming March 2, 2026, Muncie City Council meeting. Although it appears to be a light meeting, with only two new ordinances and two resolutions, it could, once again, be an interesting meeting because of the continued stalemate between the public and Council President Jeff Green over the so-called "Council Rules," as well as an interesting Ordinance and Resolution Time will tell! Then, as he winds down the last show of the week, Bilbrey explains the contest viewers will have a chance to participate in next week. If you're interested, watch until the end! #ThePoliticalSpotlight

Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey kicks off episode 608 with a bit of history about Delaware County's 3rd Courthouse (built in 1887 and torn down in 1967) and a very expensive bell from that old...old Courthouse! ($22,000 to be exact!) Next, Bilbrey shares his thoughts on Indiana House Bill 1359, specifically Amendment #2 to that bill. The amendment would cut early voting time in half and was presented by Indiana State Senator Mike Gaskill (R-Pendleton). Bilbrey has mixed feelings about this bill and would like more communication from both sides before a decision is made, but this is politics... so that is more than likely not going to happen! Lastly, Bilbrey recaps his time at the Henry County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Bilbrey was in the 'House of Sproles' to review videos pertaining to two separate incidents: (The Bell Traffic Stop) & (The Nicholas Gulley Jail Incident).
