#662 | Delaware County Commissioners Want MORE Taxes! What Say You? | The Political Spotlight

In this 662nd episode of 'The Political Spotlight,' Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey takes a hard look at a newly proposed property tax increase, pushed by the Delaware County Commissioners through the creation of a “Cumulative Capital Development Fund.”

Delaware County Commissioners Sherry Riggin (R), Shannon Henry (R), and Stephen Brand (R) will hold their regularly scheduled second meeting of the month on Monday, May 18th, 2026, at 9 a.m. During that meeting, a 'public hearing' will be held in which citizens SHALL be heard on this matter.

This meeting/hearing is important and a key opportunity for citizens to advocate against the tax increase. Bilbrey will explain what will happen at the meeting/hearing and what citizens need to do to oppose the proposed increase!

Bilbrey will examine what this fund is and how it will be used. He'll discuss why Delaware County's so-called "conservative Republican" Commissioners are trying to saddle taxpayers with another tax and why such tax increases are becoming more common across local governments.

Most importantly, Bilbrey will outline what citizens can legally do to challenge or oppose the proposal. The bottom line is that it takes commitment!

Honestly, this isn’t just about this proposal — it’s about transparency, accountability, communication, priorities, and whether taxpayers are truly heard.

The Delaware County Commissioners Meeting/Public Hearing will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 9 a.m. in Room 309A on the 3rd floor of the Delaware County Building at 100 West Main Street, Muncie, Indiana, 47305. The meeting/hearing will be streamed live; however, Bilbrey recommends attending in person for the best results.

This is something ALL citizens of Delaware County, Indiana, need to be concerned about!
