#513 | City of Muncie's 2026 Budget Time! | The Political Spotlight

In this 512th episode of 'The Political Spotlight,' Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey reviews Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour's press conference held earlier today (Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 3 p.m.) on the steps of City Hall in Muncie, Indiana.

The point of the presser was for the Mayor to unveil his proposed budget for the 2026 year. This draft will then be presented to the City Council, which will hold Finance Committee meetings to review the budget line by line, one department at a time.

The proposed budget will then need to be presented to the full Council for a vote on introduction. If approved, it will require a second vote in a subsequent Council meeting before November 1, 2025.

Bilbrey shares his thoughts on today's press conference and the city's budget process as a whole. This is one of the most critical aspects of local government.
