Bilbrey had planned to talk, after the candidate interview, about the discrepancies between what Henry County Sheriff John M. Sproles has said about the Sheriff's Department's role in the insurance situation facing Henry County and what Producer Kate and the team have found through record requests. However, sometimes BREAKING NEWS changes things!

So, Bilbrey and Producer Kate will cover the Henry County insurance situation in episode 654, which airs tomorrow evening, Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 9 p.m. (ET).

Tonight, Bilbrey first addresses the sad news announced today by Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour. The Mayor confirmed a cancer diagnosis and will undergo surgery and treatment, keeping him out of City Hall for six weeks. OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE MAYOR, HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS, AND HIS DOCTORS AND NURSES!

From there, Bilbrey examines the latest developments involving embattled Muncie firefighter Troy Dulaney, including the "newest-old allegations," the details of Dulaney's fight to stay employed, and what appears to be the city's effort to terminate Dulaney. Dean, who is currently serving in his third year as Chief of the Middletown, Indiana, Police Department, retired from the Henry County Sheriff's Department after a 27-year career, during which he held numerous roles.

Dean has also served as the interim Chief of the Knightstown, Indiana, Police Department for the past year. He helped rebuild and restaff the department and, just today, Monday, April 13, 2026, announced that he will step down from that interim position at the next Knightstown Council meeting. Dean ran for Sheriff twice, once more than twenty years ago and again in 2022, losing to the current Sheriff, John M. Sproles.

Bilbrey and Dean discuss the campaign, Dean's thoughts on Henry County's current state, and Dean's plans for the county if elected.

The article, "More Jail Footage Reviewed Following Gulley's Death," reports on the death of Nicholas Gulley II on Friday, February 27, 2026, after being on life support in the ICU for over a month, following a ten-day stay at the Henry County Jail.

The fact that reporter Travis Weik tried to start the article with a false claim and point fingers at Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey set things off on the wrong foot.

Not to mention the strange feeling that Weik and the newspaper seem more focused on playing PR rep for Sheriff John M. Sproles than on investigating what actually happened and following the story to its true, factual conclusion. All this and more make Bilbrey and the team question what is really going on, and he covers it all in this episode!

Next, Bilbrey shares his thoughts on Indiana House Bill 1359, specifically Amendment #2 to that bill. The amendment would cut early voting time in half and was presented by Indiana State Senator Mike Gaskill (R-Pendleton). Bilbrey has mixed feelings about this bill and would like more communication from both sides before a decision is made, but this is politics... so that is more than likely not going to happen!

Lastly, Bilbrey recaps his time at the Henry County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Bilbrey was in the 'House of Sproles' to review videos pertaining to two separate incidents: (The Bell Traffic Stop) & (The Nicholas Gulley Jail Incident).

After taking a week off due to a funeral, Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey and the rest of 'The Political Spotlight' crew are back! There are many topics to cover—so grab your favorite snack and drink, sit back, and let's get started!

First, Bilbrey highlights several "records" that the City of Muncie finally released. The documents relate to Dustin Clark, Flatland Resources, and the Ridenour Administration's efforts to build the new Fire Station 5.

Next, Bilbrey moves on to the recent #SprolesWatch! Bilbrey shares the latest information he's gathered from multiple sources. This is a sensitive subject, and it will be handled carefully.

Staying on the topic of Henry County Law Enforcement for a moment, Bilbrey shares his thoughts on a video currently circulating about the Middletown and Knightstown Police Departments. There is a lot to consider with this topic, and it should be looked at with an understanding of what Indiana law says about many of the issues discussed in the video. Bilbrey explains it all in this episode.

Then, Bilbrey discusses the recent arrest of Jonathan Peternel, the adult son of Nathan Peternel, a mentor and close friend of Indiana's Lt. Governor, Micah Beckwith. Similar to the topic of Sheriff John Sproles, this could have been an issue that wasn't political. However, due to actions taken by those involved, it has become a matter of concern.

Finally, Bilbrey explores the possibility that Indiana Governor Mike Braun will call a "special session" of the Indiana General Assembly on Monday, October 27, 2025, solely to redistrict Indiana's Congressional Districts—something most Hoosiers neither want nor understand.
