Bilbrey had planned to talk, after the candidate interview, about the discrepancies between what Henry County Sheriff John M. Sproles has said about the Sheriff's Department's role in the insurance situation facing Henry County and what Producer Kate and the team have found through record requests. However, sometimes BREAKING NEWS changes things!

So, Bilbrey and Producer Kate will cover the Henry County insurance situation in episode 654, which airs tomorrow evening, Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 9 p.m. (ET).

Tonight, Bilbrey first addresses the sad news announced today by Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour. The Mayor confirmed a cancer diagnosis and will undergo surgery and treatment, keeping him out of City Hall for six weeks. OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE MAYOR, HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS, AND HIS DOCTORS AND NURSES!

From there, Bilbrey examines the latest developments involving embattled Muncie firefighter Troy Dulaney, including the "newest-old allegations," the details of Dulaney's fight to stay employed, and what appears to be the city's effort to terminate Dulaney. Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey once again offers viewers exclusive footage from inside the Henry County, Indiana Jail, taken while Nicholas Gulley II was held on the preliminary charge of criminal trespass.

This footage is hard to watch, but it MUST be seen! Transparency and accountability are crucial, and this video gives a rare look inside the Henry County Jail during a time when those in charge acted very questionably. The ongoing question has been, is, and will continue to be: "Did the use of force against Gulley reach a level of brutality, and is the Henry County Sheriff's Department guilty of gross negligence in the care NOT PROVIDED TO Gulley during the nine days he was confined?"

Gulley was initially arrested and booked into Henry County Jail on Friday, January 9th, 2026, for Criminal Trespass, a Class B Misdemeanor. On the same day, he was involved in a physical altercation with four or five Henry County corrections officers. His injuries worsened over the following days.

Gulley's health declined, leading to emergency services being called nine days later, on Sunday, February 18, 2026, and he was transported to Henry County Hospital.

Due to the severity of his condition, he was airlifted by Lifeline helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was placed in the intensive care unit on life support. He remained there until his passing today, Friday, February 27, 2026, at 557 p.m.

This tragic outcome represents yet another serious incident raising questions about the leadership, policies, and culture within the Henry County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff John M. Sproles. These events add to a growing list of concerns that demand transparency, answers, and accountability.

The various videos from the jail capture key moments involving Gulley during his incarceration, offering critical insights into the circumstances surrounding his detention, subsequent medical emergency, and death.

While reporting on such heartbreaking circumstances is difficult, 'The Political Spotlight' remains dedicated to uncovering the truth. Bilbrey emphasizes his intention to thoroughly investigate this case and pursue answers on behalf of Gulley’s family and the broader community.

It is with great sadness that Bilbrey informs the audience of the passing of Nicholas Gulley II, a 35-year-old resident of Henry County, Indiana. Gulley died earlier today at approximately 5:57 p.m. on Friday, February 27th, 2026, following a prolonged and critical medical emergency that began after he was involved in a physical altercation while in the custody at the Henry County Jail.

#501 | The Flip Has Flopped! | The Political Spotlight

In this 501st episode of 'The Political Spotlight,' Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey discusses two major local government meetings held today, Monday, August 4, 2025. While several meetings took place across Indiana this morning—including the Delaware County Commissioners, Randolph County Commissioners, and Grant County Commissioners—Bilbrey focuses on the Muncie City Council Meeting and the Winchester City Council Meeting, both held this evening.

First, Bilbrey shares a statement that former Muncie City Councilor Jeff Robinson issued about the recent "political party hopping." Bilbrey offers his thoughts on Jeff's letter and explains why he believes Jeff is right on the money with his statement.

From there, Bilbrey explores the Muncie City Council Meeting, which turned out to be a major disappointment. The City Council passed "ordinance 2025" (an ordinance raising EMS rates in the City). While this decision is more than likely a poor choice for the citizens of Muncie, and the Council should have tabled it to gather more information, the main issue is how the discussion and votes were handled! This one specific vote demonstrated that the two former Democrat Councilors who recently switched to the Republican Party quickly aligned with their new colleagues, voting along party lines. Proving that the Republicans truly hold the majority on the Muncie City Council. It is completely frustrating that five of the nine Councilors could vote "NO" to gathering more information before voting!

However, at the Winchester City Council Meeting, things turned out much better. The Council voted to end a controversial measure — a big win for property rights and homeowners. Bilbrey was present at the meeting, and he shares his thoughts about what happened, why it matters, and what it means going forward.

As always, Bilbrey explains everything with his signature insight and straightforward commentary.
